Back in 1996 new legislation regarding automotive paints ruled that all manufacturers would change to water based paints. As these new paints do not need to be baked to the same high temperature as the original oil based paints, very little pollution is pumped into the atmosphere. This new legislation resulted in a much softer paint finish and existing surface sealants used in the automotive sector did not have the same resilience and efficiency.

We had already been preparing for this change which was due to take the maunfacturers approximately five or six years to accomplish. By early 2000, our chemists had formulated the first triple polymer sealant that really worked successfully on water based paints. In 2002 a new stabilising polymner was introduced together with an additional UV absorbing element.

New cars which have been glazed

The application process for cars is the same as the process for bikes. An average size car will take approximately 3 hours from start to finish. The U Glaze sealant works in the same way by creating a protective barrier around the car enabling reduced staining from bird acid, industrial fallout, tree sap, insects and acid rain. The U Glaze kit consists of a shampoo to wash the car with, this shampoo also has a shine element to it and therefore enhances the glaze. There is enough shampoo t wash the car with afterwards. Once the car is clean, the surface preparation is applied. This is simply wiped on and rubbed in until it disappears. This removes any existing dirt or grime on the car and prepares the paintwork for the U Glaze sealant to be applied. The U Glaze sealant is simply wiped sparingly over the paintwork. Two coats of the sealant are needed and once this is finished, a damp cloth is wiped over the surface of the car.

Waxing has been the popular choice for auto paint maintenance for years. However most waxes cannot withstand tropical climates or temperatures above 26 degrees centigrade. Even the cars warm engine will cause the wax's oil to migrate, causing it to haze, blur and worst of all, creating an oily and sticky surface that actually attracts airborne pollutants to settle on the waxed surface.

Due to a waxes powerfiul etching solvents, each time you wax a car, not only are you removing stains but inevitably you are also removing micron layers of paint. A cars paint thickness is between 80-110mils a very small fraction of a millimetre and about the tickness of a strain of hair. By waxing you are removing 30% of good paint and are weakening the paints original UV ray inhibitor which will lead to oxidisation and everntually a dullness to the paint.

Once the car has been glazed, no more polishing is required throughout the year as U Glaze will enable the car to remain in pristine condition.

When washing a dark car in sunlight, you will no longer experience dry streak marks as U Glaze stops these from happening.

DO'S AND DONT'S

• Always use clean water to wash your vehicle
• Always make sure that sponges, cloths and leathers have been thoroughly washed and all dirt and grit removed.
• Always use a proper car wash and wax shampoo. We recommend Wash N Shine shampoo.
• Never use household detergents ie: washing up liquid on your paintwork.
• Never scrub hard on your paintwork to remove stubborn marks.
• Never polish dirty paintwork. Always wash the vehicle thoroughly prior to polishing.

GENERAL WASHING

Rinse vehicle thoroughly first, to remove loose dust and grit. Use a clean sponge and Wash N Shine shampoo to remove any road film or more stubborn marks. Rinse thoroughly for the last time to remove any lingering dust and shampoo.

U GLAZE PRODUCTS FOR CARS

U Glaze for cars is also available in a kit. One kit will be enough to glaze a car/van.

The kit consists of 120ml shampoo to wash the car, a 120ml bottle of prep to enable pores in the painted surface to be filled and 55ml U Glaze sealant to wipe over the car creating year round protection.

CRYSTAL VISION 250ml: Crystal Vision is a revolutionary new product which when applied to car windows or windscreens it creates a protective barrier on them enabling rain to hit the surface and simply run straight off. Crystal Vision also reduces staining from bird acid, industrial fallout, general day to day pollutants and rain marks. ALLOY WHEEL CLEANER 500ml: A revolutionary new product which when applied to the alloy wheel reduces marks from brake dust and general pollutants leaving the alloy wheel in pristine condition. This product does not burn wheel studs. The cleaner is sprayed onto the alloy and left for 5 minutes - it is then washed off.

ALLOY WHEEL PROTECTOR 250ml: Once the alloy wheel cleaner has been applied to the wheel and washed off, the alloy wheel protector can be sprayed over the alloy to further protect it from stains. This again forms a protective barrier on the wheel reducing staining from brake dust and general road marks.

FABRIC PROTECTOR 500ml: Protects fabric against permanent staining. Fabric protector can be applied to the seating area of the car to reduce staining from spillages. It can also be applied to the carpets in the car to protect them. Liquid spillages simply bead so they can easily be wiped off.

AFTER CARE PACK: We have introduced an after care pack which comes in a professional carry case. Once the car has been glazed, this pack contains all the necessary products to enhance the glazed car including: 500ml shampoo, alloy wheel cleaner, alloy wheel protector, easy sheen, crystal vision for glass, bug sponge and all the cloths to apply the products. AIR PURIFIER: The air purifier is ideal for older cars. It is a one shot aerosol which is placed in the car and released. This take approximately 10 minutes and removes all smells in the car leaving a sweet smelling aroma. As the air purifier contains silver, it will protect the car against germs in the future.

PVC RESTORER 100ml: This restorer is used for the PVC windows on some convertible cars to bring them up as new leaving a crystal clear outlook!
